How to take photos of Jewelry for eBay

In the “eBay Selling Tips” group at facebook, a member shared a very interesting tip about taking quality photos of jewelry for eBay listings.

Her post read :  “Photo tip for close-up pictures of small items such as jewelry etc. Take an empty 1 gallon size milk container (the frosted kind) and cut about 2″ off the bottom of the container (make sure it is level when placed on a table).

Then place item under milk container on preferably a white table or background and then place the lense of your camera on top of the milk container pour opening, snap picture, upload, crop and walla, perfect close-up picture!”

She was kind enough to share a photo showing her actual Milk jug

There’s a commercial product similar to this called Cloud Dome. Marsha Collier used to recommend it. Haven’t seen it in a long while though.
