Facebook Groupies
Facebook has an awesome platform for holding meetings and doing chats within a select group of friends. It’s easy to focus on topics and share links with like minded folks all online for the same reason. I’ve been teaching the power of group marketing for several years now starting with the eBay groups platform and now Facebook has the “hot spot” for group marketing.
Example: VirtualOnlineLearning.com is a membership site for learning and we recently organized a private “secrete” group only for the members of VOL. This offers us the opportunity for:
- Communication
- Member-to-Member Interaction
- Questions Answered fast
- Self Promotion is encouraged
- Learning Links
- Educational Tutorials
and much more.
Each member can put a FACE and a personality to the posts in addition to sharing lifestyles and off topic issues if desired. Branding is also a benefit with “Group Marketing” if you would like to learn more about how you can market yourself in groups, I have a presentation in my eBay store $9.99 with 10% to Charity using eBay Giving Works. View My eBay Store or just join us at: VirtualOnlineLearning.com where all presentations are free to members!
Following the styles of group marketing include “Group Etiquette” there is a right way and a wrong way to market yourself. The wrong way can be the annoying way when people only post about their own business and brag on their accomplishments. Taste and style as well as language. Profanity and negativity is a another downer.
Facebook Groups that I manage:
and for the VOL members, contact me to be included in our “Secret Group”
Another tip I wanted to share is to review the “Docs” section, aka: Documents section located to the right side of the facebook groups page once you join. This is where the group “rules” are posted another with other options of participation. Many groups are strict with posting rules. My groups are all upbeat and positive. Criticism is okay as long as it is constrictive without a bashing tone.
Next tip is to be cautious of “New Friend” invites. There are some known as “Member Harvesters” which means they “watch” the membership list just so they can move members over to their group to grow the membership numbers.
It’s a tough world as a “groupie!”
Last tip is to adjust the notifications and to help you out with this, I’ve created a video DEMO:
Bottom line is to have fun and be a gracious online groupie to never insult or offend. Another few tips to live by is to avoid political and religious topics as a business person it can complicate an online professional presence.
