This in-law-suite could be used as an apartment to rent out which would help with the mortgage. Income property can not only help with the bills but in some cases it may allow a home owner to live for free in their own home!

We used this as an in-law-suite so we could take my grandmother in before we had to move her to a nursing home. It was so nice to have her with us in our home and enjoy the family for as much as she could during her final days. She loved her space! We had the bathroom put in just for her with handicap grab bars. Her bedroom was by the bathroom and the photo shows the front room was actually my office. I worked out of that room so that I could enjoy her company during the day and at night, we had a doorbell system so she could contact us at anytime and communicate with us inside the house. It worked out perfectly!

There are many options with an area like this. It could be finished off to add a kitchen if desired but the house kitchen is just inside the door past the fireplace room so it really is not far to share a kitchen. Grandma especially loved the Florida room! Watching the children in the pool and the local birds that visited our bird feeders along with the squirrels!

We have cheap indoor-out-door carpeting on the floors of the Florida room and the in-law-suite which made it easier for her wheelchair and offered a bit of security while she was using her walker.

NOW our in-law suite is our personal storage which it also works GREAT for as you can see! We’ve been busy selling furniture and cleaning out the house to move so the suite is AKA: Storage Unit! Please excuse the dust and our belongings to imagine your OWN storage or area turned into a rental or suite. Also perfect for the teenager wanting their own space, brother, sister or that special auntie wanting to move in!
