Blood Shortages Are Serious
Taking a moment to speak to you on a personal level putting eBay and business aside, I’d like to point out the great need for blood in our country. It only takes about 20 min of your time to donate blood. It’s all about saving lives and that is what you would be doing every time you donate which would make YOU a hero!

I started giving blood because of my mother sitting in an emergency room needing blood and the wait time was crazy! Luckily she was not in an immediate life or death situation because it took hours and hours for the hospital to locate the blood she needed. You can only imagine the relief she felt once once the blood was located.
That experience motivated me to donate blood on a regular basis and to encourage others to do the same because every three seconds someone, somewhere needs a blood transfusion.
Next time you see the BIG RED BUS take a moment and walk inside because it will be the most rewarding experience of your life!
My top tips:
- Drink plenty of water ahead of time.
- Give later in the day.
- Eat iron rich foods a day or few ahead of time.
- Bring a squeeze toy or stress ball
Outside of Florida, the Red Cross has made it easy to locate a blood center in your area. Visit the site or give them a call @www.redcrossblood.org/ or
call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733 2767).
Currently only 3 out of every 100 people in America donate blood.
ARE YOU AFRAID TO GIVE?
Needles do not scare me but I still do not “look” because by not looking the time goes by much faster!
The best tip I can give to those afraid is to BE BRAVE, walk inside, enjoy a bottle of water and look forward to the little treat you may receive once finished. Have your squeeze ball ready and lay back, relax, smile and compliment the staff. With your free hand you can easily use a smartphone and check into Foursquare, facebook, twitter or pinterest and SHARE your visit! Encourage others to donate blood too!
BE A HERO TODAY then come back and leave a comment because I want to hear all about it too! Allow me to blog about your experience because YOU will be MY HERO when you do!
