My PayPal Story

I can remember when PayPal was first launched in 2005 and since I had a merchant account I felt there was no reason for me to join PayPal. Then one day I made a big “fun” sale on eBay. It was to advertise on a Pool Team traveling to Vegas for a yearly pool tournament at the Riviera Hotel.  My husband was the pool team captain and the team was called ” The Irish Volunteers.”

The day this team won a trip to Vegas to compete in the finals, they all had a bit too much of celebration and my husband fell and broke his leg. So, long story short he had to go to Vegas with a cast on his leg and to add to the advertising package, I included advertising on his Cast!

The package sold on eBay for about $1500.00 to an online casino and the only way they would pay me was through PayPal. So of course I joined the site and was able to collect payment! Not long after I soon realized there was no need to have a merchant account anymore because the company I was using had a monthly fee and PayPal had no monthly fees. The basic rates were identical so the logical move to make was to close my merchant account and use PayPal.

PayPal has opened up many doors of opportunity for my business in so many ways.

This year it was an honor for me to become an official PayPal Ambassador! This will allow my to share my PayPal story and add what I’ve learned about using PayPal to all of my speaking sessions and eBay classes.
