It’s snappy, the app is user-friendly, and it has a culture all its own. But if you’re sitting there wondering why your notifications have gone silent or why those &#8220;likes&#8221; aren&#8217;t turning into &#8220;sales,&#8221; you might be falling into some common traps.</p>



<p>I’ve been selling online since 1997, and I’ve seen platforms come and go. Mercari is a fantastic tool in your <a href="https://powersellingmom.com/side-hustles-for-women-over-50">side hustle</a> arsenal, but you have to play by its specific rules to win. Today, we’re diving deep into the 7 mistakes that are costing you money and exactly how to fix them with some pro-level mercari selling tips.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-1-using-poor-lighting-and-lived-in-photos">1. Using Poor Lighting and &#8220;Lived-In&#8221; Photos</h2>



<p>We’ve all seen it: a designer handbag photographed on a cluttered kitchen counter with a yellow overhead light casting a giant shadow. This is the fastest way to make a buyer keep scrolling. On Mercari, your photo is your first: and sometimes only: chance to make a sale.</p>



<p><strong>The Fix:</strong><br>You don&#8217;t need a professional studio. Find a spot in your house with natural, indirect sunlight (near a window is perfect).
