Estimated Reading Time: 8 minutes

If you’ve been in the reselling game for a while, you know that Depop is a completely different beast than eBay or Poshmark. It’s not just a marketplace; it’s a social ecosystem. On Depop, you aren’t just selling clothes: you’re selling a lifestyle, an era, and an aesthetic.

Building a “cult-following” brand means that when you drop new inventory, people don’t just browse; they rush to buy. They follow you because they trust your eye and want to be part of the world you’ve created.

Ready to turn your shop into a destination? Let’s dive into these essential selling on depop tips to help you scale.

1. Finding Your North Star Aesthetic

The biggest mistake resellers make on Depop is trying to be everything to everyone. On eBay, you can sell a toaster and a vintage Gucci bag in the same shop. On Depop, that “yard sale” vibe will kill your conversion rate.

To build a cult following, you need a cohesive shop aesthetic. This is your brand’s “North Star.”

Pick a Niche: Are you the go-to for 90s grunge? Y2K “McBling”? Gorpcore? Or maybe sustainable handmade upcycles?

Consistent Color Palette: When someone clicks on your profile, the grid should look intentional. Whether it’s bright and neon or muted and earthy, stick to a vibe.

2. Photos That Stop the Scroll

Depop is a visual-first platform. If your photos look like they were taken in a dark basement, you’re leaving money on the table. You want to create brand recognition so that users recognize your items in their feed before they even see your username.

The Power of Modeling: Items generally sell faster and for higher prices when modeled. It shows the fit and how to style the piece. If you aren’t comfortable modeling, use a mannequin or a high-quality “ghost” flat lay.

Lighting is Non-Negotiable: Natural sunlight is your best friend. Shoot near a large window or head outside.

Consistent Backgrounds: Whether it’s a specific colored wall, a textured sheet, or a curated outdoor spot, keep it the same across your listings.

3. Building Community (Not Just a Customer Base)

The secret sauce to a cult following is engagement. Depop’s algorithm loves social activity. You want to move beyond the transaction and build a community.

Engage with Your Fans: When someone likes your item, don’t just send a discount (though you can!). Follow them back if they have a similar style. Comment on their “ISO” (In Search Of) posts if you have what they need.

Word of Mouth: Depop grew because of young users talking to each other. Encourage your buyers to tag you in their “outfit of the day” posts on Instagram or TikTok.

Transparency Matters: Be honest about flaws. Cult followings are built on trust. One bad experience can sour a reputation, so over-communicate.

4. The “Why” Behind Your Brand: A Lesson from Danna

Building a brand is about connection. I recently hit a major milestone: I turned 65! To celebrate, I created something a little different: the Turning 65: A Fun Activity Book.

Why did I do it? Because I wanted to connect with my peers and share some joy during a transitional age. I understood my audience, and I created something specifically for them.

You should apply that same “why” to your Depop shop. Are you selling vintage because you’re passionate about keeping clothes out of landfills? Tell that story in your “About” section. When people know the person behind the shop, they are much more likely to hit that “Follow” button.

5. Master the Description and Hashtags

SEO isn’t just for Google; it’s for Depop’s internal search engine too. Your descriptions need to be punchy but informative.

Keyword Loading: Use descriptive words like “oversized,” “distressed,” “vintage,” or “minimalist.”

The Rule of Five: Depop allows five hashtags. Don’t waste them. Use at least three for the style/aesthetic (e.g., #streetwear #y2k #coquette) and two for the item itself (e.g., #leatherjacket #vintagehoodie).

Measurements: Save yourself time and “get noticed” for being a professional seller by including measurements upfront. It reduces the back-and-forth in your DMs.

6. Scaling with AI Tools

As your shop grows, the manual labor of listing and cross-listing can become a massive headache. This is where modern technology comes in. You don’t have to do everything by hand anymore.

I’m a huge advocate for using AI to streamline the boring stuff so you can focus on the creative side (the sourcing and styling!).

If you want to stay ahead of the curve, you need to join our community at AI for Resellers. For just $6 a month, we show you how to use cutting-edge tools to automate your business. Whether it’s generating descriptions or managing inventory, we’ve got you covered.

7. Shipping as a Brand Experience

On Depop, the “unboxing” experience is part of the product. Cult brands often include a little something extra.

Sustainable Packaging: Since the Depop crowd values sustainability, using recycled mailers is a huge plus.

The Personal Touch: A simple handwritten “Thank you!” note goes a long way.

Fast Shipping: “Bumping it up” in the eyes of your customers means getting that package out the door within 1-2 days.

8. Don’t Sleep on Trends

Depop is trend-heavy. While you should stay true to your aesthetic, keep an eye on what’s bubbling up on TikTok or Pinterest. If “coastal granddaughter” is trending and you find a perfect cable-knit sweater, list it with those keywords.

You can also check out Depop’s official blog to see what they are currently promoting. Being featured by Depop editors is the fastest way to gain thousands of followers overnight!

You May Have Missed!

If you’re looking to sharpen your skills even further, don’t miss our recent deep dives:

Learn how to diversify your inventory with The Power Selling Podcast.

Check out my shop for more resources to help you grow your business.

Final Thoughts

Building a cult following on Depop doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a result of deliberate branding, consistent visuals, and genuine community engagement. Remember, you aren’t just a seller; you’re a curator.

By focusing on your unique “why,” staying consistent with your look, and using AI tools to keep your business lean, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a Depop powerhouse.

Spread the love! If you found these tips helpful, share this post with your fellow resellers.

Estimated reading time: 7 minutes

Let’s get real for a second. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’ve been in the reselling game since the early days of eBay. I’ve seen tools come and go, but as I hit my 65th birthday recently, my perspective shifted. I don’t want to spend 14 hours a day glued to a screen anymore. I want to spend time with my grandkids, travel, and maybe finally finish that “Turning 65 Activity Book” project I’ve been buzzing about.

But I’m not ready to let my business slow down. In fact, I want it to grow. That’s why I decided to go all-in on Marblism.

I’ve been testing it out for a while now, and today I’m giving you my brutally honest review. No fluff, no “guru” speak, just the truth about how these AI employees are actually running the show at Power Selling Mom while I’m out enjoying life.

Why I Hired an AI Team

As a reseller, you’re the CEO, the janitor, the photographer, and the customer service rep. It’s a lot! I needed a way to scale without hiring a massive human team that requires constant management. I wanted experts who didn’t need coffee breaks.

Enter Marblism. It’s not just “one AI.” It’s a literal department of specialists. Here is a look at the “staff” currently keeping my business humming.

Meet Eva: My Inbox Wizard

If you’ve ever looked at your inbox and felt like crying, you need Eva. She’s the AI Executive Assistant who basically moved into my email and started cleaning.

Eva doesn’t just “filter” spam; she understands the context of every message. She organizes my inbox into categories so I know exactly what needs my attention and what can wait. The best part? She prepares drafts directly in my inbox. When a customer asks about a consignment agreement or a podcast sponsorship, I open my mail and a perfectly worded response is already waiting for me to hit “send.” She’s the reason I finally hit “Inbox Zero” without losing my mind.

Meet Penny: My Content Strategist (Yes, that’s me!)

Alright, I might be a little biased here since I am Penny, but Danna really puts me to work! Writing blog articles that actually rank on Google is a full-time job. You have to worry about keywords, transition words, and keeping the reader engaged.

Danna uses me to whip up SEO-optimized posts that help sellers find her tools and resources. Instead of staring at a blank screen for three hours, she gives me a topic, and I deliver a high-quality draft that sounds just like her. It keeps the Power Selling Mom blog fresh and the traffic flowing while she’s off recording the Power Selling Podcast.

Meet Rachel: The Virtual Receptionist

One of the biggest hurdles for resellers moving into professional services (like mobile notary work) is the phone. You can’t always pick up when you’re at the post office or in the middle of a listing marathon.

Rachel is the receptionist I always wanted but couldn’t afford to hire full-time. She picks up the phone, books appointments for me, and can even transfer calls if it’s an emergency. She sounds professional, never gets grumpy, and ensures I never miss a lead just because I was busy taping up a box.

Meet Stan: The Outreach Engine

Scaling a business means you need new customers constantly. Stan is the Sales Rep who never sleeps. He’s connected to a database of 700 million leads. Yes, you read that right.

Stan helps me find potential consignment partners or businesses that need my expertise. He sends out personalized emails to close deals and follow up with prospects. For anyone looking to build a consignment business, having a “Stan” in your corner is like having a whole sales department for the price of a monthly subscription.

Meet Sonny: The Social Butterfly

Let’s be honest: keeping up with TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook is exhausting. It feels like as soon as you post one thing, it’s already “old news.”

The Verdict: Is It Worth It?

Managing all these “employees” is surprisingly simple. As you can see in the dashboard above, it’s just like having a chat with a team on Slack or WhatsApp. I can jump from a conversation with Eva about my schedule to a chat with Stan about new leads in seconds.

The Pros:

Time Freedom: I’ve clawed back at least 20 hours a week.

Consistency: My blog and socials never take a “day off.”

Professionalism: Rachel and Eva make my business look much larger and more polished than a one-woman show.

The Cons:

Learning Curve: You do have to spend a little time at the start “training” them on your voice and preferences.

Trust: It’s hard to let go! But once you see the results, it gets a lot easier.

Wrapping It Up

If you’re feeling burnt out or just want to bump it up to the next level, you have to stop doing everything yourself. We’re in 2026: the tech is here, it’s affordable, and it actually works.

Whether you’re selling on eBay, Poshmark, or running your own shop, Marblism can give you your life back.

Spread the love! If this review helped you, share it with a fellow reseller who looks like they need a nap.

Estimated Reading Time: 10 minutes

Let’s be real for a second: the dream of reselling for profit usually starts with a closet clean-out, but it quickly turns into a scavenger hunt. You’re hitting thrift stores at 7:00 AM, digging through dusty bins, and wondering if that vintage lamp is a hidden treasure or just a piece of junk. But what if I told you there’s a way to get high-quality inventory delivered right to your front door without spending a dime upfront?

Welcome to the “magic” of consignment selling.

I’ve been in this game a long time, and honestly, consignment is one of the most brilliant ways to scale your business. I recently hit a major milestone, I turned 65!, and it got me thinking about how much the industry has changed. While I’ve been busy launching my new “Turning 65 Activity Book” to help others celebrate this stage of life, I’ve also been reflecting on the tools that make our lives easier as we grow our businesses.

Whether you’re looking for side hustles for women over 50 or you’re a full-time pro, consignment selling online is the ultimate secret weapon.

What is Consignment Selling, Anyway?

In the simplest terms, consignment is a partnership. Someone has “stuff” (the consignor), and you have the “skills” to sell it (the expert). You take their items, list them, sell them, and then split the profit.

The beauty? Zero inventory risk. You aren’t shelling out hundreds of dollars on inventory that might sit on a shelf for six months. You only pay the owner once the item has actually sold. This keeps your cash flow healthy and your basement from turning into an episode of Hoarders.

Why Consignment Selling on eBay is Still King

While there are dozens of platforms out there, consignment selling on ebay remains the gold standard. Why? Because eBay has the eyeballs. With millions of active buyers globally, it’s the best place to find that one specific collector who needs your client’s vintage 1980s lunchbox.

But here’s the kicker: to really maximize your profits, you can’t just stop at eBay. To be a true Power Selling Mom (or Dad!), you need to be where the buyers are. That means Poshmark, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace, and maybe even Etsy.

The Visibility Advantage

When you list a client’s high-end designer handbag on just one site, you’re gambling. When you put it on four sites? Now you’re playing to win. Increased visibility leads to faster sales, and faster sales lead to happy consignors who bring you even more stuff. It’s a beautiful cycle.

Work Smarter (Not Harder): Use AI to Speed Up Listing + Cross-Listing for Consignment

I recently turned 65, and let me tell you—I’m all about working smarter, not harder. Consignment is already a “no cash upfront” way to scale, but the real bottleneck is usually the busywork: writing titles, filling in item specifics, and tweaking descriptions for each marketplace.

That’s where AI can save your sanity.

Why AI helps so much with consignment listings

When you’re listing other people’s items, speed matters. You want:

SEO-friendly titles that get noticed in search

Clean, keyword-rich descriptions that answer buyer questions

Consistent wording across platforms (so you don’t miss details)

Faster listing turnaround so consignors see momentum

Marblism AI: the “high-speed listing” assistant

One of my favorite ways to streamline this is Marblism AI. It’s perfect when you want to turn a few quick notes (brand, size, measurements, flaws, materials) into a polished listing fast—without staring at a blank screen.

Use it to generate:

Searchable titles (with the right keywords in the right order)

Descriptions that convert (condition, features, fit, and shipping-friendly wording)

Bullet-point details (great for buyers who skim)

Variations for cross-listing so your text isn’t copy-paste identical everywhere

Quick workflow you can steal

Snap great photos first (AI can’t fix bad photos).

Jot down your facts: brand, model/style name, size, measurements, materials, flaws.

Paste your notes into Marblism AI and ask for:

an eBay title under 80 characters

a keyword-rich description

a short “condition” line that’s honest and clear

Reuse the same core listing across platforms with minor tweaks (shipping terms, bundle language, hashtags where needed).

If you want to go deeper on using AI to crank out listings without burning out, join AI for Resellers. It’s $6/month right now (price may go up), and it’s where you’ll learn how to use AI to work faster and sell smarter.

Balancing Act: Professionalism and Personality

As you grow your consignment business, you’re moving from “person selling stuff” to “business owner.” This requires a bit of education. You need to be the expert your clients trust.

1. High-Quality Photos are Non-Negotiable

You don’t need a $2,000 camera, but you do need good lighting. Natural light is your best friend. Clean backgrounds (think white foam board) make your items pop. Remember, you aren’t just selling a product; you’re selling your expertise in presenting that product.

2. The Art of the Description

Keywords are your best friends. Think like a buyer. What would they type into the search bar? Instead of “blue dress,” try “Vintage 1970s Diane von Furstenberg Silk Wrap Dress, Navy Blue, Size 8.” See the difference?

3. Clear Communication

When you’re handling other people’s property, trust is everything. Have a simple contract that outlines the split (usually 50/50 or 60/40), the length of the consignment period, and what happens if the item doesn’t sell. If you ever have questions on how to set this up, feel free to contact Danna for a little guidance!

Why I’m Obsessed with AI for Resellers

I mentioned turning 65 earlier. One of the reasons I’ve stayed in this business so long is that I love learning new things. Right now, the biggest “game changer” in our industry is Artificial Intelligence.

I’ve been using AI to help write my listing descriptions and even to brainstorm marketing ideas for my “Turning 65 Activity Book.” It saves so much brainpower! If you want to stay ahead of the curve, I highly recommend joining my community at AI for Resellers. For just $6 a month (though the price might go up soon, so hop in now!), you get access to the latest strategies on how to use AI to work smarter, not harder.

Diversified Income: The Reseller’s Safety Net

Consignment selling is a fantastic way to diversify. If your own sourcing hits a dry spell, your consignment clients keep the inventory flowing. It’s about building a sustainable business that doesn’t rely on you finding a “score” at a garage sale every single weekend.

Think about it like this: your business is a table. If you only have one leg (selling your own thrift finds on eBay), the table is wobbly. When you add consignment, crosslisting, and maybe even some niche products like my activity books, you’re adding more legs. That table isn’t going anywhere!

You May Have Missed!

If you’re looking to dive deeper into the world of e-commerce, don’t forget to check out The Power Selling Podcast. I share tons of interviews with successful sellers and deep dives into platform updates. It’s like a masterclass in your ears while you’re packing boxes!

Ready to Level Up?

Consignment selling online is more than just a side hustle; it’s a path to professional freedom. By leveraging other people’s inventory and using AI to streamline listings across multiple marketplaces, you’re positioning yourself for major success.

Don’t let the technical stuff scare you. Take it one step at a time. Start with one client: maybe a friend with a closet full of clothes they no longer wear: and see how it feels. You’ve got the skills, and now you’ve got the roadmap.

Spread the love! If you found this helpful, share it with your favorite reselling group. Let’s all grow together!

Estimated Reading Time: 8 Minutes

Hey there, fellow sellers and savvy shoppers!

If you’ve been following my journey lately, you know things have been moving fast. I recently took an incredible vacation to Cancun, and let me tell you, nothing clears the mind like white sand and turquoise water. It was the perfect time to reflect on where Power Selling Mom is headed as we move deeper into 2026.

Stepping away from the daily “hustle” reminded me how important it is to protect our most valuable asset: time. As a one-woman show (with a little help from some amazing AI tools!), I’ve made some strategic shifts so I can give every item I represent the world-class attention it deserves.

Today, I’m sharing the updated 2026 Consignment Terms. These updates streamline the process, maximize your profits, and focus on what the market is truly craving right now: high-end, quality goods.

The High-End Shift: Why the $100 Minimum?

The reselling landscape has changed. According to recent market reports, the luxury resale market is expected to hit over $41 billion this year. Furthermore, consumers are moving away from “fast fashion” and toward the “circular economy,” looking for archival pieces, quiet luxury labels, and items that hold their value.

To keep up with this demand and maintain the level of service my clients expect, I now only accept high-end consignment items with a minimum market value of $100 per item.

Why the change? It’s simple: quality over quantity. By focusing on higher-ticket items, I can spend more time on deep-dive research, professional photography, and multi-channel marketing to help your items sell for top dollar. For instance, a vintage Chanel bag, a pristine piece of Loro Piana, or a collectible Leica camera needs a specialized touch, and I’m proud to provide it.

Understanding the 2026 Consignment Terms

Transparency is everything in this business. I want you to know exactly how I handle your items and how the profit is split. Here is the breakdown of our 2026 policy.

1. The Listing Fee: $5.00

Charging a flat $5.00 listing fee for every item accepted. I know what you’re thinking: “Wait, do I pay that now?” Nope! I deduct this fee from the total only after the item sells.

This fee covers the “behind-the-scenes” magic that helps your items get noticed:

Professional Research: Identifying the exact brand, year, and market trend.

Photography & Editing: High-resolution shots that make your items pop.

Detailed Measurements: Reducing returns by giving buyers exactly what they need.

AI-Optimized Listings: Using modern technology to rank higher in search results.

Secure Storage: I keep your items in a climate-controlled, professional environment until they find their new home.

2. The Profit Split: 50/50 Based on the Gross Sale Price

We are partners in this! For 2026, we will continue a 50/50 split based on the gross final sale price. That means we split the sale price evenly first. From the consignor’s share, the consignor pays all marketplace fees plus the $5.00 listing fee.

In most cases, the buyer pays shipping, so I do not deduct it from the sale price. However, marketplaces like eBay and Poshmark have their own fee structures, so your share will reflect those costs. Consequently, the process stays simple, clear, and easy to understand.

3. Global Marketplace Exposure

Your items aren’t just sitting in a closet, they are on a world tour! One of the biggest benefits of working with me is that I cross-list your items across multiple high-traffic platforms. In addition, I choose platforms based on where your specific item can get the most “eyes.” It may be listed on:

eBay & Etsy: For global reach and vintage enthusiasts.

Poshmark, Mercari, & Depop: For trendy fashion and high-end streetwear.

Grailed: Specifically for high-end menswear and designer archives.

Instagram & Facebook: Tapping into social commerce trends.

The Lifecycle of Your Item: Pricing Strategy

The goal is always to sell your item for the highest possible price in the shortest amount of time. However, the market can be unpredictable. Here is how I manage the “life” of a listing:

Months 1–6: I list items at current market value with room for reasonable offers.

After 6 Months: If an item hasn’t moved, we “bump it up” by dropping the price to attract new buyers.

After 1 Year: I typically move unsold items to an auction format to trigger a final sale.

The 2-Year Mark: If an item remains unsold after two years, I pull it from inventory. At that point, the item becomes my property, and I typically donate it to a local charity to support those in need.

Returns and Cancellations

I work incredibly hard to protect my reputation and yours. However, if a consignor decides they want an item back after I already listed it, I charge a $25.00 “stop the listing” fee, plus the cost of shipping to return the item to you. This covers the time and labor I already invested in the listing process.

Consignor Responsibilities: Let’s Get Started!

Ready to clear out that high-end closet? The process is easy, but the logistics are on you.

Shipping & Drop-offs: Consignors are responsible for getting the items to me. Whether you are shipping from across the country or dropping them off locally in Florida, you cover the delivery costs. In addition, I recommend using a tracked and insured service for your high-value pieces!

Condition is King: Please make sure all items arrive clean and in excellent condition. While I handle the “selling” magic, the better the item looks upon arrival, the faster it will fly off the virtual shelves.

Leveraging Technology for Your Success

One of the reasons I’m able to maintain such a high success rate is my use of AI. In fact, I’m so passionate about it that I’ve launched a community called AI for Resellers. For just $6 a month, I teach other sellers how to use modern tech to work smarter, not harder.

When you consign with me, you benefit from these cutting-edge strategies. From AI-driven pricing analysis to smart keyword optimization, I back your high-end items with the best tools in the business.

Let’s Make 2026 Your Most Profitable Year Yet

Reselling isn’t just about getting rid of “stuff”: it’s about smart asset management. If you have high-end items valued at $100 or more, don’t let them sit and gather dust. Let me put my decades of experience to work for you.

Estimated Reading Time: 8 minutes

If you’ve been in the reselling game for more than five minutes, you know that dresses are a bread-and-butter category. They’re easy to ship, high in demand, and often carry some of the best profit margins in the business. But here is the catch: eBay’s list of dress styles is massive.

If you get the style wrong, you aren’t just being “a little inaccurate”: you’re actually hiding your item from potential buyers.

In this cornerstone guide, I’m going to break down the most common (and confusing) eBay dress styles. We’ll look at visual markers so you can identify inventory in a flash, and I’ll explain exactly how these “Item Specifics” feed into eBay’s search engine, Cassini. Mastering these ebay selling strategies is the difference between a dress that sits for six months and one that sells in six hours.

Why Dress Styles Matter for Your Bottom Line

When a buyer goes to eBay looking for a “v-neck floral midi dress,” they don’t just scroll through 500,000 listings. They use the filters on the left-hand side of the screen. Those filters are powered by the Item Specifics you fill out during the listing process.

If you leave the “Style” field blank, or worse, guess and get it wrong, you’re essentially opting out of search results. eBay’s algorithm, Cassini, loves complete data. The more accurate your item specifics, the more Cassini trusts your listing, and the higher you “bump it up” in the rankings.

Plus, as we scale our businesses, reseller inventory management becomes about efficiency. Knowing these styles by heart, or using reselling AI to help identify them, saves you precious minutes on every single listing.

The Ultimate A-Z Dress Style Guide

Let’s get into the nitty-gritty. Here are the most common styles you’ll encounter while sourcing and how to spot them.

A-Line

The A-Line is the “old reliable” of dress styles. It is fitted at the hips and gradually widens towards the hem, giving it the shape of a capital letter “A.” It’s incredibly popular because it flatters almost every body type.

Visual Marker: Look for a flared skirt that doesn’t have a lot of pleats or ruffles at the waist.

Bodycon

Short for “body-conscious,” this is a tight-fitting dress that follows the body’s contours closely. These are almost always made from a fabric with a high percentage of Lycra or Spandex.

Visual Marker: If it looks like it would be impossible to get into without a lot of stretching, it’s a bodycon.

Cocktail

A cocktail dress usually lands between daywear and formalwear. It is often knee-length or midi length and designed for parties, weddings, dinners, and special events.

Visual Marker: Dressier fabric, polished silhouette, and often more detail than a casual day dress.

Watch For: Beading, lace overlays, satin, embellishment, and a semi-formal vibe.

Fit & Flare

Similar to an A-Line, but with a more dramatic “flare.” Usually, the bodice is very snug, and the skirt is gathered or pleated at the waist to create a lot of volume.

Visual Marker: A defined waistline with a skirt that poops out significantly.

Gown

A gown is typically a formal, full-length dress meant for eveningwear, black-tie events, pageants, or prom.

Visual Marker: Floor-length hem, elevated fabric, and a distinctly formal look.

Watch For: Trains, boning, dramatic drape, sequins, satin, or chiffon overlays.

Kaftan

A kaftan is loose, flowing, and often cut generously through the body. It may be short or long, but the signature is that breezy, draped shape.

Visual Marker: Wide silhouette, relaxed sleeves or dolman-style construction, and lots of flow.

Watch For: Resortwear, boho styling, batwing sleeves, and embroidered necklines.

Maxi, Midi, and Mini

These refer primarily to the length, but eBay often uses them as style descriptors.

Mini: Hits mid-thigh or higher.

Midi: Hits anywhere between the bottom of the knee and the mid-calf.

Maxi: Ankle-length or floor-length.

Mermaid

A mermaid dress is fitted through the bodice, waist, and hips, then flares sharply near the knee or lower leg.

Visual Marker: A curve-hugging top with a dramatic flare at the bottom.

Watch For: Formal dresses, bridal-inspired silhouettes, and trumpet-style confusion.

Sheath

A sheath dress is form-fitting and shaped with darts. Unlike a bodycon, it’s usually made of structured woven fabric (like wool or heavy cotton) rather than jersey. It typically hits at the knee and has no waist seam.

Visual Marker: Think “Professional Office Wear.” It’s straight, sleek, and structured.

Shift

Often confused with the sheath, the shift dress hangs straight down from the shoulders. It doesn’t have a defined waist and is much looser through the midsection.

Visual Marker: The classic 60s “Mod” look. If it looks like a rectangle with armholes, it’s a shift.

Shirt Dress

Exactly what it sounds like: a dress that borrows details from a man’s button-down shirt. It usually features a collar, buttons down the front, and sometimes a fabric belt.

Visual Marker: Look for the collar and the button placket.

Slip Dress

Inspired by actual lingerie, the slip dress is usually made of silk, satin, or acetate and features spaghetti straps.

Visual Marker: Minimalist, thin straps, and “slinky” fabric.

Tea Length

Tea length refers to a hem that usually falls below the knee but above the ankle, often around mid-calf.

Visual Marker: A vintage-inspired length that feels dressy but not quite full-length.

Watch For: 1950s silhouettes, party dresses, and formal daytime looks.

Tent

A tent dress is cut very full from the shoulders and falls away from the body with lots of volume.

Visual Marker: Dramatic oversized shape with little to no waist definition.

Watch For: Smocks, oversized boho dresses, and swingy silhouettes.

Tiered

A tiered dress has horizontal panels or gathered layers stacked down the dress.

Visual Marker: Distinct fabric sections that create volume in rows.

Watch For: Prairie dresses, boho styles, and maxi dresses with multiple gathered seams.

Trapeze

A trapeze dress flares out from the shoulders or bust and gets wider toward the hem without a defined waist.

Visual Marker: Swingy top-to-bottom line with movement and room through the body.

Watch For: It can look similar to a shift, but trapeze styles usually have more flare and motion.

Tunic

A tunic dress is usually short, straight, and easy fitting. It may be worn alone as a mini dress or layered over leggings.

Visual Marker: Simple shape, shorter length, and relaxed fit.

Watch For: Side slits, embroidered necklines, and casual or boho styling.

Wrap Dress

Made famous by Diane von Furstenberg (DVF), this dress is formed by wrapping one side across the other and tying it at the waist. This creates a V-neckline and a hug-the-curves fit.

Visual Marker: Look for the tie-waist and the overlapping fabric on the chest.

Fabrics and Textures That Help You Identify Dress Styles

Fabric is one of the fastest clues you have when you’re trying to nail a style. If the silhouette has you second-guessing yourself, the textile often breaks the tie.

Jersey Often Signals Bodycon or Casual Draped Styles

Jersey is soft, stretchy, and clingy. That makes it a common fabric for bodycon, ruched, and some wrap dresses.

Why it matters: A true bodycon almost always relies on stretch.

Quick clue: If the fabric snaps back and hugs every curve, bodycon jumps to the top of the list.

Sheath dresses usually need shape. That structure often comes from woven materials like cotton blends, ponte, linen blends, wool blends, jacquard, or polyester suiting.

Why it matters: Wovens hold a cleaner line and don’t cling the same way jersey does.

Quick clue: If the dress has darts, lining, a back zip, and officewear energy, it may be a sheath.

Why it matters: Fabric finish can separate “casual maxi” from “formal gown” in a hurry.

Texture Can Change the Read

Ruching, smocking, pleating, quilting, crochet, lace, and burnout velvet all affect how buyers search.

Quick clue: Add texture words to your title and description when they are obvious and accurate.

When in doubt, don’t separate style and fabric in your mind. They work together. A stretchy ruched knit dress may lean bodycon. A darted woven knee-length dress may lean sheath. A loose embroidered rayon piece may lean tunic or kaftan. Put the clues together and you’ll get noticed faster.

Advanced Styles You Need to Know

To truly excel at reselling for profit, you need to know the niche styles that collectors search for.

Empire Waist: The waistline is raised to sit right below the bust. This is common in “Regency” or “Boho” styles.

Peplum: A dress that has a short, flared ruffle attached at the waistline.

Pinafore/Jumper: A sleeveless dress intended to be worn over a blouse or turtleneck.

Sundress: Usually a casual, lightweight dress with straps, intended for warm weather.

eBay Item Specifics: Required, Recommended, and Additional Fields

This is where a lot of sellers leave money on the table. You can know the right dress style and still miss visibility if you skip the Item Specifics section or fill it out halfway.

When you list a dress on eBay, you’ll usually see Item Specifics broken into three buckets:

Required Item Specifics

These are the fields eBay wants before you can publish, or fields that are heavily emphasized because they are core to the category.

Examples for dresses: Brand, Size Type, Department, Dress Length, Style, Color, and sometimes Pattern or Sleeve Length, depending on category flow.

Why they matter: These fields are the backbone of buyer filters. If a shopper filters for “Midi” and you skipped Dress Length, you may not show.

Best practice: Fill them out accurately, not quickly. Guessing hurts more than taking an extra minute.

Recommended Item Specifics

These are not always mandatory, but they matter more than many sellers realize.

Examples for dresses: Neckline, Sleeve Length, Occasion, Material, Features, Theme, Season, Closure, and Accents.

Why they matter: These support long-tail search behavior. Buyers don’t just search “dress.” They search “black sheath dress sleeveless lined office” or “floral tiered midi dress cottagecore.”

Best practice: Use the recommended fields to match how real buyers filter and phrase their searches.

Additional Item Specifics

These are the extra details that help your listing stand out when the basics are already covered.

Examples for dresses: Vintage, Handmade, Garment Care, Character, Product Line, Country/Region of Manufacture, and custom descriptors when applicable.

Why they matter: These fields may not drive every sale, but they can help niche buyers find you and can reduce questions after the sale.

Best practice: Fill them out when they are obvious from the tag, fabric label, or the garment itself.

How Item Specifics Affect Search Visibility for Dresses

Here’s the short version: filters feed discovery. The more accurate structured data you give eBay, the easier it is for Cassini to match your listing to the buyer’s intent.

For dresses, these fields pull a lot of weight:

Style: Helps your dress appear when shoppers narrow results to Shift, Sheath, Wrap, Cocktail, and other silhouettes.

Dress Length: Helps you show up for Mini, Midi, Maxi, and Tea Length searches.

Occasion: Helps connect your listing to buyers shopping for wedding guest, party, career, casual, or formal looks.

Material: Important when buyers want linen, silk, velvet, jersey, or cashmere blends.

Pattern: Helps with floral, polka dot, animal print, plaid, striped, and abstract searches.

Sleeve Length and Neckline: Crucial for fit preference and seasonality.

The Smart Way to Fill Them Out

If you’re rushing through listings, use this order:

Fill every required field.

Add style, length, material, neckline, sleeve length, and occasion.

Add pattern, features, accents, and season.

Double-check that your title and Item Specifics agree.

If your title says “Bodycon” but your Item Specifics say “Sheath,” you’re sending mixed signals. That can confuse buyers and hurt conversion. Clean data wins.

How to Photograph Different Silhouettes So the Style Makes Sense

Great photos help buyers see the shape right away. They also help you identify the style before you list it.

Use a Dress Form for Structured Styles

Dress forms are especially helpful for:

Sheath

Bodycon

Mermaid

Fit & Flare

Cocktail styles with waist definition

Why? Because these silhouettes depend on shape. A flat lay can make a fitted dress look limp and shapeless. On a form, buyers can instantly see contour, darting, waist placement, and flare.

Use Flat Lays for Relaxed or Hard-to-Display Styles

Flat lays work well for:

Shift

Tunic

Kaftan

Tent

Tiered casual dresses

Why? Because these silhouettes are often roomy and drapey. A mannequin can sometimes make them look more tailored than they really are. Flat lays keep the proportions honest.

Photograph the Waistline Clearly

If you’re trying to prove Empire Waist, Baby Doll, Fit & Flare, or A-Line, the waist placement matters.

Take one straight-on shot.

Take one side angle.

Take one close-up of the seam or waist definition.

That extra photo can be the difference between a buyer understanding the fit or scrolling on by.

Show the Hem Shape

For Mermaid, Trapeze, Tea Length, and Gown styles, the lower half tells the story.

Make sure the whole hem is visible.

Smooth the fabric enough to show the silhouette.

Photograph movement if the dress has flare.

Capture Texture and Structure

If the dress is ruched, pleated, lined, smocked, quilted, or heavily textured, get close-up photos.
That helps buyers understand whether the dress is stretchy, structured, soft, or formal.

Quick Photography Matchups

Fit & Flare: Best on a dress form so the waist and skirt volume pop.

Shift: Best on a flat lay or simple hanger shot so buyers can see the straight cut.

Sheath: Best on a form to show tailoring.

Kaftan: Best with a wider shot that shows drape and sleeve width.

Tiered: Best with a full-length shot plus close-up of each horizontal panel.

Bodycon: Best on a form with side view to show close fit.

Tea Length: Best with a full front shot so the buyer sees where the hem lands.

Good photos don’t just sell the dress. They support the style choice in your Item Specifics.

Common Pitfalls That Trip Up Dress Sellers

This is where things get sticky. Some dress categories look similar at first glance, and that’s exactly why sellers get tripped up.

Empire Waist vs. Baby Doll

Both have a raised waistline, but they don’t always read the same.

Empire Waist: Usually more streamlined and can be elegant or romantic.

Baby Doll: Usually shorter, cut fuller below the bust, and often has a youthful or playful feel.

Fit & Flare vs. A-Line

These two are cousins, not twins.

A-Line: Usually a smoother line from waist to hem.

Fit & Flare: Usually has a more dramatic transition and more skirt volume.

Shift vs. Sheath

This is one of the biggest mistakes on eBay.

Shift: Loose, straight, relaxed, little waist definition.

Sheath: Tailored, closer to the body, often structured woven fabric.

Mermaid vs. Trumpet

Some sellers use these interchangeably, but they’re not always identical.

Mermaid: Fitted lower through the hips and thighs, then flares more dramatically.

Trumpet: Flares a bit higher and often a little softer.

Tunic vs. Mini Dress

Not every short dress is a tunic.

Tunic: Usually relaxed, easy fit, often designed with layering in mind.

Mini Dress: Can be fitted, structured, bodycon, or fashion-forward without the “tunic” styling.

Gown vs. Maxi

Length alone does not make a dress a gown.

Maxi: Usually describes length.

Gown: Signals formalwear.

When you hit a confusing piece, slow down and ask:

Where is the waist?

Is the fabric stretchy or structured?

Does it skim or cling?

Is the defining feature shape, length, or occasion?

Those questions usually break the tie.

How AI is Changing the Listing Game

When you upload a photo to an AI-powered listing tool, it can analyze the silhouette and suggest the correct “Item Specific.” This is a massive win for reseller inventory management. Instead of scratching your head over whether a dress is a “Shift” or a “Sheath,” you let the technology do the heavy lifting, ensuring you get noticed by the right buyers.

AI also helps when a dress has multiple overlapping traits. That’s where human sellers often bog down. A dress can be:

floral

tiered

midi

empire waist

boho

sleeveless

That is a lot to juggle. AI can pull those clues from your photos and your rough notes, then turn them into cleaner draft listings. It can spot shape, pattern, texture, and formality cues faster than you can if you’re listing in batches.

How AI Handles Complex Patterns and Silhouettes

This is where things really get interesting.

If a dress has a loud pattern, sellers sometimes focus on the print and miss the silhouette. AI tools can evaluate both at once:

Pattern recognition: floral, geometric, abstract, animal print, striped, plaid

Silhouette recognition: sheath, shift, fit & flare, tiered, tent, wrap, tunic

Detail recognition: ruching, lace, smocking, pleating, embroidery, sequins

So instead of stopping at “pretty floral dress,” you can create a much stronger listing like:

Free People Tiered Floral Midi Dress Boho Smocked Sleeveless Women’s Small

That kind of specificity can bump your listing up in search and make your workflow smoother.

Pro Tips for Your Titles

Once you’ve identified the style, you need to use it in your title. eBay gives you 80 characters: use them wisely!

Brand + Style + Pattern + Color + Material + Size.

Example: Anthropologie Maeve Shift Dress Floral Blue Linen Blend Size 10.

Notice I didn’t just say “Dress.” I used “Shift Dress.” This doubles your chances of being found because you’re hitting both the broad category and the specific style search.

Personal Context: Why I Love This Niche

I’ve been doing this for a long time: long enough that I recently celebrated turning 65! One of my favorite projects lately was creating the “Turning 65: A Fun Activity Book.” I made it because I realized that as we hit different milestones, our interests and the way we interact with the world (and our businesses) change.

Whether I’m designing a book or sourcing a vintage 1970s maxi dress, the goal is always the same: finding a niche and serving it well. In the reselling world, that “service” starts with accurate descriptions. When you help a buyer find exactly the style they want, you aren’t just making a sale; you’re building trust in the platform.

FAQ: eBay Dress Category Questions Sellers Ask All the Time

What if a dress fits more than one style?

Use the dominant silhouette in the Style field, then support it with your title, condition notes, and description. For example, a floral tiered midi dress may have both a style and a length descriptor. Pick the silhouette that best matches the cut, then add the rest in your title.

Should I use “Maxi,” “Midi,” or “Mini” as the style if eBay also asks for Dress Length?

If eBay gives you both fields, fill out both when accurate. Buyers filter by length all the time, and those terms are common search language.

Can I put more than one style in the title?

Yes, as long as it’s truthful and not keyword stuffing. “Tiered Midi Dress” or “Sheath Cocktail Dress” can make sense. Just don’t pile on random styles that contradict each other.

What if I’m not sure whether it’s Sheath or Shift?

Check the fabric and the shaping. If it is structured, tailored, and closer to the body, it usually leans sheath. If it hangs looser and straighter from the shoulders, it usually leans shift.

Does eBay really care if I skip recommended specifics?

Maybe not at the checkout button, but definitely in visibility and filtering. Recommended specifics help buyers narrow results, and that can improve clicks and conversion.

How do I identify Tea Length accurately?

Measure from the shoulder to hem and compare that with the way it falls on a form or mannequin. Tea length usually lands between the knee and ankle, often around mid-calf.

Is a loose dress always a Tent or Trapeze?

Nope. Loose only tells you part of the story. A tent dress is usually fuller and more dramatic from the shoulders down. A trapeze dress flares outward but may still look more controlled than a tent silhouette.

Should I mention fabric in the title?

Absolutely, when it helps. Linen, silk, velvet, wool blend, satin, and jersey are all strong search terms if they are accurate and visible on the tag or fabric content label.

Estimated Reading Time: 7 minutes

Welcome back to Part 2 of our Side Hustle Series! If you caught the first installment, you saw how I pocketed $75 in just 20 minutes by filming houses for real estate investors. It was fast, efficient, and utilized a tool we all already have in our pockets: a smartphone. Today, I’m sharing another “low-hanging fruit” opportunity that I’ve personally used to pad my bank account with very little extra effort.

We are talking about the Field Agent app.

Last year, I made a cool $107 just by doing something I was already doing: grocery shopping. Now, I know $107 isn’t going to buy you a new car or pay off a mortgage, but here’s the thing: it was easy peasy. I was already in the store. I was already walking past the items. I just had to stop, snap a couple of photos, and hit submit.

If you are a reseller or a small business owner, you know that every dollar counts toward your bottom line. Whether that $107 goes toward your eBay shipping supplies (opens in a new tab) or a nice dinner out, it’s “found money.”

What is the Field Agent App?

If you’ve never heard of it, the Field Agent app is a platform that connects brands with everyday shoppers. Companies like Coca-Cola, Tyson, or even big-box retailers want to know what’s happening on their shelves in real-time. They want to know:

Is our display set up correctly?

Is the price tag accurate?

Are the shelves stocked, or are we “out of stock”?

How does the product look to a customer?

Instead of sending a high-paid corporate auditor to every single store in America, they pay you to do it. You become their eyes and ears on the ground. You are essentially a “secret shopper” or a “micro-auditor.”

Why This is the Ultimate “Efficiency” Side Hustle

As the CEO of Power Selling Mom, my entire philosophy revolves around efficiency. I’m always looking for ways to maximize my time. If I’m already at Walmart sourcing items for my reselling business, why wouldn’t I take five minutes to make an extra $5 or $10?

This is what I call “stacking your income.” You are already paying for the gas to get to the store. You’ve already carved out the time to be there. By using the Field Agent app, you’re simply getting a rebate on your time.

Last year, my $107 total came from these tiny, bite-sized tasks. I didn’t go out of my way once. I only accepted jobs in stores I was already planning to visit. That is the secret to making this side hustle work without it feeling like a “job.”

How I Made $107 (And How You Can Too)

The jobs on Field Agent usually pay anywhere from $3 to $15 per task. Most of the ones I did were in the $5 to $8 range. Here’s a breakdown of the types of “easy peasy” jobs you’ll see:

1. The Audit (Shelf Checks)

This is the most common job. You’ll be asked to find a specific product: say, a brand of laundry detergent: and take a photo of it on the shelf. You might have to answer a couple of questions like, “How many rows of this product are visible?” or “Is there a sale tag present?”

2. Buy-and-Try

These are my favorite! The app will ask you to buy a specific product (like a new flavor of chips or a specific beverage). They will reimburse you for the cost of the item plus pay you a small fee for your feedback. You get free food and a few bucks for your trouble. It’s a win-win.

3. Scavenger Hunts

Sometimes brands are looking for specific, hard-to-find items. If you find it, you snap a photo and get paid. This is great for resellers because we are already experts at spotting specific items in a sea of inventory!

4. Ticket Jobs

These don’t pay cash immediately, but they enter you into big drawings. I usually skip these and focus on the “green” (the cash), but if you’re feeling lucky, go for it!

Scaling Your “Side Hustle” Mindset

Some people look at a $5 job and think, “That’s not worth my time.” But let’s look at the math. If a task takes you 3 minutes and pays $5, you are technically earning at a rate of $100 per hour. When you start thinking like a CEO, you realize that these small wins add up.

I’ve reached a point in my life where I value my time more than ever. Recently, as I navigated the milestone of turning 65, I’ve been reflecting on how I spend my days. That reflection actually led me to create my “Turning 65 Activity Book” because I wanted to stay engaged and sharp.

Whether you are 25 or 65, the goal is the same: create a life of freedom. Moving from a side hustle to a CEO (opens in a new tab) requires you to see opportunities where others see “chores.” Field Agent is one of those opportunities.

Pro-Tips for Maximizing Your Field Agent Earnings

If you want to beat my $107 record this year, here are a few tips I’ve learned:

Check the app before you leave the house: See which stores on your route have available jobs. You can “reserve” a job for a limited time (usually 2 hours), so grab it before you head out.

Refresh, refresh, refresh: New jobs pop up all day long. If you’re standing in the checkout line and it’s moving slowly, open the app and see if there’s a quick task you missed.

Stack your gigs: If you see three jobs at the same Walmart, do them all! One user reportedly made $120 in just three hours by stacking 31 gigs at nearby stores. That’s how you “bump it up” to the next level.

Follow directions to a T: If they ask for a photo of the entire shelf, don’t just send a close-up of the bottle. If your submission is rejected, you don’t get paid. Keep it professional.

How to Get Your $10 Bonus

I want you to start this side hustle with a “win.” If you use my referral link or code, you can get a $10 bonus to jumpstart your earnings.

Referral Link: Click here to join Field Agent (opens in a new tab)

Referral Code:
rmxnybz

It’s completely free to join. You just download the app, set up your profile, and you’re ready to go. You can cash out your earnings directly to your bank account anytime you want. No waiting for a specific “payout day”: if the money is there, it’s yours.

Beyond the App: Growing Your Business with AI

While Field Agent is a fantastic way to earn “shopping money,” I know many of you are looking for ways to scale your actual reselling businesses. That’s where my passion really lies.

If you want to take your efficiency to the next level: way beyond $5 app jobs: you need to look at how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can do the heavy lifting for you. From writing product descriptions to analyzing market trends, AI is the future of e-commerce.

I’d love to have you join us at AI for Resellers. It’s my community where we break down exactly how to use these new tools to make more money in less time. It’s currently only $6 a month, though that price may go up as we add more resources. You can check it out here: https://aiforresellers.com (opens in a new tab).

Wrapping Up

The Field Agent app is a low-stress, high-efficiency way to add another stream of income to your life. It fits perfectly into the “Power Selling Mom” lifestyle because it’s about working smarter, not harder.

Give it a try next time you’re heading out for milk and bread. Use code
rmxnybz
to grab that $10 bonus, and let’s see how much “easy peasy” money you can stack up this year!

Spread the love and share this post with a friend who could use an extra $100 in their pocket!

Estimated Reading Time: 9 minutes

Welcome to the very first installment of my new Side Hustle Series!

If you’ve been following me for a while at Power Selling Mom, you know that I am all about multiple streams of income. While my heart usually beats for eBay and e-commerce, I’m a firm believer that as an entrepreneur, you should always have your eyes open for “the next thing.” Whether you are looking to fund your next big inventory haul or you just want to pad your savings account, side hustles are the engine that keeps the business moving.

Today, I’m sharing a story about a quick gig I did recently that felt almost like cheating because it was so fast and so simple. I made $75 in just 20 minutes of actual work.

The task? Filming an investor property walkthrough.

No, I didn’t need a professional cinema camera. No, I didn’t need a film crew. I just needed my smartphone and a little bit of local knowledge.

The Drive: Punta Gorda to Port Charlotte

The day started like any other Friday. I had my reselling tasks lined up, but an opportunity popped up through a contact of mine. A real estate investor needed eyes on a property, fast.

The house was located in Port Charlotte, Florida, which is just a short hop from where I am in Punta Gorda. I hopped in the car, enjoyed the Florida sunshine, and made the drive. Even with the commute, the actual time spent “on the clock” at the property was minimal.

I’ve always said that being a successful reseller is about being “on the move.” Whether you are sourcing at a thrift store or driving to a property, movement creates opportunity. If you want to see the quick breakdown of how this looked on the ground, you can check out my YouTube Short right here where I show the “behind the scenes.”

What Exactly is an Investor Property Walkthrough?

You might be wondering, “Danna, why would someone pay $75 for a 20-minute video?”

Here is the secret: Real estate investors often buy properties sight-unseen, or they live in a different state (or even a different country). They need someone they trust to walk through a potential investment and show them the real condition of the home.

This isn’t a fancy real estate marketing video with soft music and slow-motion pans of the kitchen. In fact, investors don’t want that. They want the raw truth. They want to see the water stains on the ceiling, the cracks in the foundation, the age of the HVAC system, and the overall “vibe” of the neighborhood.

In this side hustle series spotlight, we are looking at a “boots on the ground” service. You are the investor’s eyes and ears.

The Math: Why This Side Hustle Wins

Let’s break down the numbers, because as business owners, we have to respect the clock.

Gross Pay: $75

Time on Site: 20 Minutes

Hourly Rate (Projected): $225/hour

Compare that to the time it takes to source, photograph, list, and ship a $75 item on eBay. While I love reselling, it’s a high-touch process. This property walkthrough was low-touch. Once the video was uploaded to the cloud and sent to the investor, my job was done. No packing tape required!

This kind of high-efficiency earning is exactly what I talk about on the Power Selling Podcast. We need to find ways to inject cash into our businesses without draining our most precious resource: time.

How Modern Technology Makes This Possible

Years ago, you would have needed a camcorder, a physical tape, and a way to mail that tape to the investor. Today, your smartphone is a powerhouse.

For this gig, I used my phone to take a series of high-resolution photos of every room, followed by a continuous video walkthrough. I started at the curb to show the street view, walked through the front door, hit every bedroom and bathroom, and finished in the backyard.

I didn’t even need to edit the video. The investor wanted the raw file so they could pause and zoom in on specific details. I uploaded the files to a shared Google Drive folder while I was still standing in the driveway, hit “send,” and the $75 was essentially in my pocket.

Why I Love “Non-Reselling” Side Hustles

You might think it’s strange for the “Power Selling Mom” to talk about filming houses. But here’s the thing: everything is connected.

When I’m out filming a house, I might spot a yard sale nearby. When I’m networking with real estate investors, I might find someone who needs help clearing out an estate, which leads to more consignment opportunities for my eBay business.

I’m currently at a stage in my life where I’m focusing on projects that bring me joy and connection. For example, I recently turned 65 and created a “Turning 65 Activity Book.” It was a passion project to help others navigate that milestone with a smile. Sometimes, we do things for the heart, and sometimes we do things for the bottom line. This property filming hustle is a perfect mix of being out in the community and earning a great return on time.

How You Can Start Making Money Filming Houses

If you want to make money filming houses, you don’t need to wait for a job posting on a major site. You can be proactive.

Join Local REI Groups: Look for Real Estate Investment groups on Facebook or Meetup.com in your area.

Network with Out-of-State Investors: Many investors focus on high-growth areas like Florida but live in New York or California. They are desperate for reliable people to do “walkthroughs.”

Offer a Flat Rate: Keep your pricing simple. A flat fee for a 15-20 minute visit is attractive to investors because they can build it right into their “due diligence” budget.

Be Honest: Your value is in your honesty. If the house smells like mold, say it. If the floor feels soft, point the camera at it.

Bridging the Gap with AI

In my AI for Resellers community, we talk a lot about using technology to work smarter. While filming a house is a physical task, you can use AI tools to help you write your outreach emails to investors or even to summarize your notes from the walkthrough into a professional report.

If you are looking to scale your business and find more time for these high-paying side hustles, you have to embrace the tools that are available to us today. We are living in an era where $75 for 20 minutes of work isn’t just a dream, it’s a Friday afternoon in Port Charlotte.

What’s Next in the Side Hustle Series?

This is just the beginning. I have a whole list of side hustles that I’ve personally tried or researched that fit perfectly alongside a reselling career. We’ll be talking about everything from niche consulting to digital products and beyond.

The goal is to move from being a “hustler” to being a CEO. That means choosing the tasks that pay the best and outsourcing or automating the rest.

Estimated Reading Time: 8 minutes

If you have ever stood in a long line at a municipal building, clutching a stack of forms and wondering if you have the right signatures, you know exactly how frustrating the permitting process can be. Whether you are a busy contractor managing three different job sites or a homeowner trying to kickstart a long-awaited renovation, the red tape can feel like a brick wall.

That is where a professional permit runner comes in to save the day. But I’m not just any permit runner. As a Notary Permit Runner, I bring a specialized set of skills to the table that ensures your paperwork isn’t just delivered: it’s done right the first time.

Serving Charlotte County and the surrounding areas, I help you bridge the gap between “we need a permit” and “construction starts today.”

What Exactly is a Permit Runner?

At its core, a permit runner is a logistics expert for the construction and real estate world. We handle the submission and tracking of building permit applications, delivering plans and documentation to local municipality and county offices. Instead of you taking a half-day off work to sit in traffic and wait for a clerk, I do the legwork for you.

My role involves:

Picking up physical forms and blueprints.

Reviewing applications for obvious errors before submission.

Interacting with city and project staff to facilitate faster approval.

Hand-delivering documentation to the right desk.

Following up with officials to keep the process moving.

While much of the world is moving digital, many local offices still require physical “wet” signatures and hard copies of blueprints. In a fast-paced environment, having someone who can physically “run” these items is a massive competitive advantage.

The “Notary” Advantage: Why It Matters

You might be wondering, “Why do I need a Notary Permit Runner specifically?”

In many jurisdictions, permit applications, affidavits, and contractor statements must be notarized to be legally binding. In the past, if a signature was missing or a form wasn’t notarized, the permit runner would have to drive back to the contractor, wait for them to find a notary, and then head back to the building department.

By combining these two roles, I streamline the entire process. If we realize a document needs a notarized signature, I can verify your identity and witness the signing on the spot. This anti-fraud procedure is built directly into my service, saving you extra trips and preventing those annoying “returned for corrections” notices that can set a project back by weeks.

Helping You Stay On-Site and On-Task

For contractors and builders, time is literally money. Every hour you spend away from the job site is an hour of lost productivity. By delegating the “paperwork shuffle” to me, you can focus on what you do best: building.

I often work with professionals who are juggling multiple projects. They don’t have time to keep track of which city office closes early on Fridays or which clerk prefers a specific format for site plans. Because I am local to the Charlotte County area, I know the nuances of our local offices. I know where to park, who to talk to, and how to get things noticed in a stack of applications.

A Personal Pivot: Why I Do This

You might know me best as the “Power Selling Mom,” helping people navigate the worlds of eBay and Etsy. Recently, I celebrated a major milestone: turning 65! Reaching this age really puts things into perspective. It inspired me to launch projects like my “Turning 65: A Fun Activity Book,” which you can find more about on my Amazon Author page (external link).

Just as I used my creativity to engage people with that activity book, I use my organizational skills to help my local community. Whether I am sourcing a rare vintage item for my eBay store (external link) or ensuring a building permit is filed correctly, my goal is always the same: Educational excellence and expert service.

I’ve spent years mastering the “tech” side of business, and I even run a community called AI for Resellers where I teach people how to use modern tools to work smarter, not harder. I bring that same “work smarter” mentality to permit running. If there is a way to use AI or digital organization to keep your permits on track, you can bet I’m using it.

Services Tailored for Homeowners

It isn’t just the pros who need help. If you are a homeowner acting as your own owner-builder, the permitting process can be incredibly intimidating. You might not speak the “language” of the building department.

I act as your advocate. I can pick up the forms from your kitchen table, ensure you’ve signed in all the right places, notarize what’s necessary, and get it to the county office. Think of me as your personal assistant for all things “red tape.” My goal is to make the process feel achievable rather than overwhelming.

Why Local Knowledge is Your Secret Weapon

In the world of government paperwork, “who you know” and “where you go” matters. Every county has its own quirks. Some offices are still catching up on backlogs, while others have updated their requirements for 2026.

By serving Charlotte County and the surrounding areas, I stay “in the loop.” I am familiar with the local staff and the specific expectations of our building departments. This local touch means I can often spot a potential issue: like a missing site map or an outdated form version: before I even hand it to the clerk. This proactive approach helps you avoid the “denied” stamp.

How to Get Started

Working with a permit runner is simple. We usually start with a quick call to discuss the scope of your project.

Pickup: I come to your office, home, or job site to pick up the necessary documents.

Review & Notarize: I check the documents for completeness and notarize any required signatures on-site.

Submission: I deliver the paperwork to the appropriate local office.

Tracking: I keep you updated on the status of the filing.

The cost for these services is a small investment compared to the hours of frustration you would otherwise face. Most permit runners charge an hourly rate or a flat fee per “run,” and the value of having a Notary included in that service is a total game-changer.

Beyond the Paperwork: The Power Selling Mom Community

While I love helping with local permits, my heart is always in education and helping others grow their businesses. If you are a local contractor or business owner looking to expand your digital footprint, you should definitely check out the resources at AI for Resellers. We focus on using AI to streamline administrative tasks, much like how I streamline your permit process.

I also invite you to explore my YouTube channel (external link) where I share tips on business organization, reselling, and staying productive as an entrepreneur.

Final Thoughts

Don’t let a stack of forms hold up your next big project. Whether you are building a new deck, installing a pool, or managing a commercial build-out, let me handle the legwork. With a professional Notary Permit Runner on your side, you can “bump it up” to the next level of efficiency.

Ready to get those permits moving? Let’s connect and get your paperwork off your desk and into the right hands!

Spread the love! If you found this guide helpful, feel free to share it with your fellow contractors and neighbors in Charlotte County.

Estimated Reading Time: 8 minutes

If you’ve been in the reselling game for a while, you know that not all platforms are created equal. While eBay is the king of everything and Poshmark is great for social selling, Vestiaire Collective is where the high-fashion magic happens. This is the playground for luxury items, designer handbags, and those “holy grail” sneakers.

But let’s be real: selling luxury isn’t the same as flipping a $10 t-shirt. It requires a different level of precision, presentation, and patience. Whether you are a seasoned pro or just starting to dip your toes into high-end fashion, knowing how to sell on Vestiaire Collective effectively can be the difference between a stale listing and a massive payday.

In this guide, I’m breaking down the professional strategies you need to maximize your profit and get those designer items moving.

The Luxury Mindset: Why Vestiaire Collective?

Vestiaire Collective isn’t just a marketplace; it’s a global community of fashion enthusiasts. With over 23 million members, you aren’t just selling to your local neighborhood: you’re selling to a worldwide audience that values authenticity and quality.

The key to reselling for profit on this platform is understanding that these buyers are picky. They are spending hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars. They want to know exactly what they are getting. This is why your reputation and your listing quality are your biggest assets.

Master the Art of the Shoot

You’ve heard it before, but it bears repeating: your photos are your first (and sometimes only) chance to make a sale. Research shows that high-quality images can help you sell up to three times faster.

When you’re prepping a luxury item, you need to go beyond the basics. Here is your checklist for a professional shoot:

Natural Lighting: Avoid harsh shadows. Soft, natural light shows the true color of the item.

Multiple Angles: Front, back, sides, and the bottom of bags. Buyers want to see the “feet” of a Louis Vuitton or the wear on a heel.

The Details: Zoom in on labels, serial numbers, date codes, and holograms. This helps Vestiaire’s authentication team and builds immediate trust with the buyer.

Transparency is Profitable: If there is a scuff, show it. If there is a loose thread, photograph it. Being honest upfront prevents returns and keeps your seller rating high.

Model It: If possible, show the item being worn or styled. This helps buyers visualize the size and fit, which is often a major hurdle in online luxury shopping.

Strategic Pricing: Don’t Leave Money on the Table

Pricing luxury items is an art form. You want to be competitive enough to move the item, but you don’t want to undersell a piece of history.

Use the Tools Provided: Vestiaire has a fantastic price recommendation tool powered by over a decade of sales data. Start there, but don’t stop there.

Do Your Homework: Check completed listings on Vestiaire, but also look at Grailed and eBay. This gives you a holistic view of the current market value.

The Negotiation Cushion: Buyers on Vestiaire love to make offers. It’s almost part of the culture. I recommend pricing your item about 10-15% higher than your “walk-away” price. This gives you room to accept an offer and make the buyer feel like they got a deal, all while protecting your margins.

Building Trust through Authenticity

On a platform like Vestiaire Collective, your word is everything. They have a rigorous authentication process, and if you send in a “dud,” it’s going to cost you. Not just in a canceled sale, but in your reputation.

Be meticulous with your descriptions. Mention the fabric composition, the season it was released, and how it fits. If a Chanel jacket runs small, say so! Your goal is to be the most helpful person in the room.

Speaking of being helpful and staying sharp: I’ve been thinking a lot about longevity and growth lately. I recently turned 65, and let me tell you, it’s a milestone that makes you look at your business differently! It’s why I created my “Turning 65: A Fun Activity Book.” I wanted to celebrate the creativity and energy we still have as we age. In reselling, just like in life, you have to keep pivoting and trying new things to stay ahead of the curve.

Inventory Strategy: What to Source?

If you want to maximize profits, you need to know what people are actually looking for.

The Classics: Brands like Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel hold their value remarkably well. These are “blue chip” stocks for resellers.

The Trend-Seekers: Keep an eye on TikTok and Instagram. Micro-trends can cause specific items (like a particular vintage Coach bag) to skyrocket in value overnight. The goal is to flip these quickly before the trend cools off.

Seasonal Timing: Don’t list a heavy wool coat in July. Hold it until September or October when the demand: and the price: peaks.

Visibility and Community Engagement

Don’t just list it and forget it. To get noticed by the algorithm, you need to be active.

Log In Daily: Active sellers get higher visibility.

Respond Quickly: If someone asks a question or makes an offer, answer them ASAP. Speed often closes the deal.

Follow Others: Building a following in the community can lead to more eyes on your closet.

Use AI Tools: If you find yourself struggling to write catchy titles or detailed descriptions, consider using AI. It can help you find those “magic” keywords that buyers are searching for. If you want to dive deeper into how AI can revolutionize your reselling business, come join us at AI for Resellers{:target=”_blank”}.

Advanced Tactics for Pros

If you really want to level up, consider becoming a Professional Seller on the platform. If you have a registered business, this can unlock additional features and potential benefits.

Also, don’t be afraid to use the Flash Price Drop feature. This creates a sense of urgency for people who have liked your item. Sometimes a 10% drop for 24 hours is all it takes to trigger a “Must Buy Now” reaction in a buyer.

Summary: How to Sell on Vestiaire Collective

Shoot like a pro: Use natural light and show every detail.

Price strategically: Leave room for offers but stay grounded in data.

Be transparent: Trust is the currency of the luxury market.

Stay active: Engagement leads to visibility.

Use AI: Save time on descriptions and keyword research.

Reselling high-end fashion is a journey, not a sprint. It takes time to build your “Closet” and your reputation, but the profits at the end of the road are well worth the effort.

Reading Time: 8 Minutes

Let’s be real for a second, running a reselling business is a lot of work. Between sourcing at the thrift stores, photographing inventory, and recording the latest podcast episode, there’s one thing that always seems to get buried: the inbox.

If you’re anything like me, you probably wake up to a mountain of emails every single day. There are questions from buyers on eBay, notifications from Poshmark, requests for podcast interviews, and about a million “special offers” from software companies. It’s overwhelming! For the longest time, I felt like I was drowning in digital clutter. I wanted to spend more time finding those “hidden gems” to flip, but instead, I was glued to my keyboard answering the same five questions over and over.

That all changed when I met Eva.

No, Eva isn’t a new hire sitting in an office down the street. She’s my AI Executive Assistant from Marblism, and honestly? She has completely transformed how I run Power Selling Mom. This is the first post in a new series where I’m going to introduce you to my “AI Dream Team,” and believe me, you’re going to want to meet them all.

Who is Eva, and Why Do You Need Her?

Eva is part of the Marblism family of AI employees. Unlike a standard chatbot or a basic auto-responder, Eva is designed to function as a high-level Executive Assistant. She doesn’t just “see” my emails; she understands them.

Think about the time you spend every day just sorting through junk to find the one message that actually matters. Eva does that for me in seconds. She’s built to automate the operational burden of my day, specifically my inbox, my calendar, and my meetings.

In the world of e-commerce / reselling education, staying organized is the difference between making a sale and losing a customer. When a buyer asks about measurements or shipping times, they want an answer now. Eva helps me stay on top of those requests without me having to check my phone every five minutes.

Taming the “Inbox Madness”

The biggest game-changer for me has been Eva’s ability to manage my inbox. Here is how she handles the madness:

Smart Filtering: Eva categorizes my emails automatically. She groups them into buckets like “To Respond,” “FYI,” or “Marketing.” This means when I sit down to work, I don’t look at 200 unread emails. I look at the 10 that Eva has flagged as high priority.

Drafting Replies: This is the “magic” part. Eva learns my writing style and tone. She prepares drafts for me based on the email’s context. If a potential guest wants to be on the podcast, she drafts a friendly reply with my requirements. If a buyer is asking about an item in my eBay store, she prepares the response. I simply review, tweak if needed, and hit send.

Human-in-the-Loop: One thing I love about the Marblism philosophy is that I’m still in control. Eva doesn’t just go rogue and send emails without me. She acts as my researcher and ghostwriter, making sure I look professional while saving me hours of typing.

By letting Eva handle the “busy work,” I’ve regained at least two hours every single day. That’s ten hours a week! Just imagine what you could do with an extra ten hours. For me, it means more time for sourcing, more time for my family, and more time to focus on our community at AI for Resellers.

Managing the Calendar Like a Pro

As a reseller strategist and coach, my calendar used to be a nightmare of back-and-forth emails. “Are you free Tuesday?” “No, how about Wednesday at 2?” “Wait, what time zone?”

Eva puts an end to all that. She manages my scheduling and appointments autonomously. She knows my preferred working hours and my meeting links. If someone needs to book a coaching session, Eva handles the logistics. She even joins my Zoom calls, captures action items, and sends out a summary before the meeting is even over. It makes me look like I have a whole corporate team backing me up, even when I’m working from my home office in my slippers!

Why I’m Investing in AI Productivity

You might be wondering why I’m so enthusiastic about this. Well, as some of you know, I recently celebrated a big milestone, turning 65! Reaching that age makes you really value your time. I even created a “Turning 65: A Fun Activity Book” because I wanted to embrace this new chapter with creativity and joy.

I don’t want to spend my “golden years” (though I’m not slowing down anytime soon!) staring at an inbox. I want to be creative. I want to build things.
